Grills

Grills are used for the purposes of separating the coarse materials floating in the wastewater from the wastewater, preventing them from damaging the existing mechanical equipment in the treatment plant, preventing them from clogging the pumps and pipelines, and reducing the pollution load coming to other units.

Grid spacing is classified according to bar spacing as;

  • Fine grids
  • Coarse grids

According to the cleaning method;

  • Manual cleaning grids
  • Mechanical cleaning grids.

Coarse grids are used as the first unit because they are protective equipment. They are installed especially before pump stations. Bar spacing is greater than 4 cm in coarse grids and between 1.5-3.0 cm in fine grids.

While the speed in the channel approaching the grid is not lower than 0.5 m/sec, the speed between the grid bars is not exceeding 1.0 m/sec.
