Sifters are used to retain solids in wastewater, protect mechanical equipment such as pumps in the treatment plant, and reduce the load on the treatment plant. They can be made of fixed or rotary type.

Solid particles retained during the operation of the fixed screen are poured into the waste chute from the lower end of the screen surface by using the effect of water flowing from the surface and weight forces. Therefore, there is no need for moving parts and extra energy requirement in the fixed screen.

Rotary type screen systems are drum screens. There is a circular screening system inside the body. The screen is fixed with a rotor shaft and driven by a motor. The angled structure of the screen allows unwanted objects to slide through the screen and go to the waste bunker. In this way, only wastewater can pass through the screen wire.

According to the screen gap;

a) Coarse screens 5-15 mm
b) Fine screens 0.25-5 mm
c) Micro screens 0.02-0.035 mm are divided into three parts.
